Chena Fresh is an environmentally friendly greenhouse operation that was started by the same folks who brought geothermal power production to Alaska, Bernie and Connie Karl.  Bernie and Connie purchased Chena Hot Springs from the State of Alaska in 1998, and have since transformed the resort to a more eco-friendly relaxation wonderland.

One of the most underreported challenges currently facing Alaska is food security.  Today, Alaska imports ~98% of it's food.  This may be acceptable for other states who are in close proximity to one another and can easily transport goods, but due to our remote location this could be a potentially dangerous situation.  This is a top priority for Chena Fresh and we are diligently working to address this concern.  If you are interested in our other sustainability projects, please follow this link to learn more.
